Sow from April onwards in situ and thin to 30cm (1ft) apart. Alternatively transplant greenhouse raised plants when the weather allows. Plant in rows 30 - 45cm (1 - 1^1/2ft) apart.  Firm rich soil with a high pH is the main consideration when growing this crop. Regular harvesting is also important to maintain supply. The most important pest is Cabbage Root Fly which can be controlled with Fyba cabbage collars or Enviromesh.
