Lettuce - Celtuce (Asparagus Lettuce)

Also known as Asparagus or Chinese Stem Lettuce. Sow thinly from mid-spring onwards and grow as lettuce. Leaves look and taste of lettuce but the midribs have the crunchiness and spicy flavour of celery. Celtuce can be eaten not only as part of a salad but also steamed or stir fried. Has four times the Vitamin C content of lettuce.
