A late variety of the popular Aster family, whose colours include shades from rose to purple. 

Generally sown in the greenhouse with or without heat, from January to early April. Prick out into trays or cells when large enough to handle. Transplant into beds when all risk of frost has gone. They flower from June onwards. Usually used for summer bedding plants, these only survive one season. 

Sometimes known as Chinese Asters, these flowers are fantastic for adding colour late summer through to autumn. Also provides long lasting blooms for indoor decoration. Many different strains available varying in height and colour. Avoid planting in same spot in garden from year to year and for really good results spread mulch around the stems. Sow at 15-20ºC (59-68ºF) cover with thin layer of vermiculite or compost.
