Giant yellow flowers.

Normally sown in situ from March onwards when soil conditions allow. Usually flowering from June until the frosts kill them. For earlier flowers many species can be sown in September and overwintered in mild areas. Hardy annuals are generally easy to grow, quick to flower and are great for filling in gaps. However large or small your garden they represent great value for money.     

Helianthus. A children’s favourite, didn’t we all grow these with the aim of growing the tallest or the one with the largest flower head? There are actually many differing varieties available these days, from the classic "Giant" to more colourful and even small pot versions. Sow at 20ºC (68ºF) Cover with vermiculite or compost. Grow on at 15-22ºC (59-72ºF). Some varieties can be sown in situ in April, plant these seeds at about a 2.5cm (1") depth.
